Three people from Mmakgodu Village outside Polokwane on the Mogwadi road were detained by Seshego Police and questioned after the death of two men allegedly killed in an incident of mob justice involving members of the community on Saturday morning.
Seshego Police Spokesperson Mothemane Malefo said Johannes Moremi and Nakedi Malefo were allegedly killed after being accused of terrorising the community and apparently being responsible for several burglaries in the area.
“It is reported that members of the community apprehended the two men early Saturday morning. They were severely assaulted. Moreni died on the scene while Malefo died on arrival at the Seshego Hospital,” Malefo said.
He said a suspected stolen bed and mattress along with other items were found at one the deceased’s houses. “Thus far no-one has claimed any of the items found. We appeal to the residents who have suffered a burglary recently to visit the Seshego Police Station to identify the items,” Malefo said.
