Suspensions lifted, hearings to follow

Investigations against three officials attached to the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure suspended during the Section 100 1 (b) administration period have been concluded.
Pottie Kekana, General Manager Property and Facility Management who was placed on precautionary suspension on 16 April 2014 due to allegations that he violated Public Service Regulations, violated Treasury Regulations and wilfully prejudiced the administration of the department among other charges. Ramararie Naidoo, General Manager Corporate Services was placed on precautionary suspension on the same day due to allegations that he violated Public Service Regulations, violated Section 16 A 6.2 of the Treasury Regulations and wilfully prejudiced the administration of the department, among others. Godfrey Mphahlele, Construction Project Manager in Sekhukhune, was placed on precautionary suspension on 23 July 2013 due to allegations of fraud and corruption and wilfully prejudicing the administration of the department.
In line with the Public Service Commission guidelines the acting Head of the Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Thonias Malele, reviewed their suspensions on 10 November. The three officials were notified to report to work within five working days and they should have reported back by Wednesday (yesterday).
Departmental Spokesperson Paena Galane said the process for disciplinary hearings will commence within 60 days after completion of the investigations.
