Seshego Stadium will play host to four fixtures of the season 2 of Multichoice Diski Challenge soccer matches scheduled for 17 and 18 October.
The MultiChoice Diski Challenge is a corporate investment initiative programme of Multichoice which includes a reserve league of all 16 clubs playing in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
On the 17th Jomo Cosmos will play Maritzburg United at 11:00 while the University of Pretoria, who won the challenge last season, will play Kaizer Chiefs at 13:00.
On the 18th Polokwane City Football Club will entertain Supersport United at 11:00 while Orlando Pirates will face last year’s runner up Mamelodi Sundows at 13:00.
PSL Media and Communications Coordinator, Fhatuwani Mpfuni said they decided to take some of the Multichoice Diski Challenge matches to Seshego Stadium because Seshego is one of the biggest townships in the country and most people in the area follow soccer.
The challenge is a three-year partnership with the PSL and focuses on building the PSL’s Reserve League in order to fast track u. 23 players into the first teams of participating clubs.
Teams are allowed to field a maximum of three players over the age of 23 in their starting XI.
The new format will be a 16-team league with each club playing every other club once. The club with the most points (that is, the team at the top of the log table) at the end of the tournament’s match day 15 will become the champions of MultiChoice Diski Challenge season 2.
After the success of season 1, where 62 games were played in five provinces around the country and a total of 186 goals scored, season 2 promises to be even bigger and better. The defending champions, University of Pretoria, will be given a run for their money as the magnificent floating trophy and a life changing seven-day trip to Holland is back up for grabs.
