A man described as “One of the most wanted criminals in Polokwane” by Ntobeng Phala, Spokesperson for the Police, was apprehended last night (Thursday) in Polokwane.
The suspect allegedly killed Ignat Oosthuizen of Serala View on 5 May. Both Oosthuizen and his wife Simoné were stabbed with a sharp object. The wounds Oosthuizen sustained to his neck were fatal while his wife incurred a wound on her arm.
This incident was reportedly the third attempted burglary at the couple’s house since November 2014. A case of housebreaking and murder was opened. Two cell phones were stolen.
“He is one of the most wanted criminals in Polokwane and we positively linked him to three other cases by his fingerprints,” said Phala who added that the man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
According to Phala the suspect was apprehended following a tip-off by a member of the public. Simoné said she was glad that the suspect had been apprehended, and that the law would take its course.
