While the second to last race of the year at Polokwane Oval on Saturday did not lure a lot of racers or spectators, the organisers are urging racing enthusiasts to prepare themselves for the final Xmas race, which promises to be a big event on 7 November.
Drivers only competed in six classes on Saturday and in the Rookie class Johan Bezuidenhout, Eric Enslin and Nadia Grové took the first three positions on the podium.
André Pienaar showed no mercy in the Hotrods class and was first to be handed to chequered flag. Nico Vorster and Stephan Weideman had to be satisfied with the second and third positions respectively.
Willie Blignaut was crowned winner of the Stockrods followed by Hennie de Koker and Johan Thiart.
André Horn was once again seen in action. He put up a good show, despite fighting cancer to show that he has not lost his touch on the track. He claimed victory in the V8 Sprints class which left the second and third position open for Daleen McCrudden and Kenny Gouws.
Heath Bent put some pedal to the metal in the 1660 Modifieds class and took the overall first position. WF Weideman and Dylan Bosch settled for second and third.
The Ninja Midgets class is always ‘n cute yet competitive teaser before the big guns take to the track. Jean-Marie Swartz and JC Oosthuizen gave each other a hard time on the oval and settled for the first and second position respectively.
