In their quest to compete for major silverware in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season, Polokwane City Football Club signed contracts with former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs defender Punch Masenamela, Nazier Jacobs from Milano United and Randy Ngobe from Witbank Spurs last Friday.
Masenamela has seven caps with Bafana Bafana and is expected to bring a wealth of experience in City’s defence which conceded the most goals in the league last season.
The Senwabarwana born player, who had a short stint with Platinum Stars Football Club can also play as an attacking winger.
“I am happy to be back home. I left the province when I was 16-years-old to pursue soccer career outside the province. I have learned a lot while I was there and I think it was time to come back home,” Masenamela is quoted to have said.
In their opening match of the 2015/16 season set for 8 August Polokwane City will play Bloemfontein Celtic at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
“We are happy with new players we have signed and we believe they will add value to the team. We opted for Masenamela because we did have a natural left back last season, we improvised a lot and we believe he will help the team at the back,” Chief Operations Officer for Polokwane City Football Club, Tincy Tema said.
