Local fitness fanatic and bodybuilder Donovan Suddes made Polokwane proud during the Weider Nutrition International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB) South African Championships hosted in Sandton, Johannesburg at the beginning of September by achieving an overall bronze medal in the Men’s Athletic Physique category.
Suddes said the nationals was an awesome experience not only to meet other bodybuilding fanatics but also to be able to interact with international judges and to learn how they judge on higher level.
“It has been a privilege to compete at nationals. Thanks to all my supporters who believed in me and my support crew for their assistance during the championships,” he added.
Suddes though he might have some time to rest his body but he has only seven weeks to prepare for the Joe Weider’s Olympia Amateur Challenge in Liverpool, United Kingdom from 31 October to 1 November. “The time has already come to prepare for the Olympia. I am excited to compete in Liverpool as it will serve as training and preparation for the Arnold Classic in May next year,” he said.
Suddes spends about three hours per day in the gym, six days a week and follows a strong eating plan. “Fitness and bodybuilding has always been a passion. It is a lot of hard work and dedication and your success depends on yourself in this sport. You do not have a team mate to blame for your failure,” he said.
