Limpopo Head of Hawks Dibero Molatjana was expected to appear in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court on charges of fraud and the misuse of state resources yesterday (Wednesday).
At the time of going to print Hawks Spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said Molatjana was suspended about a month ago pending the investigations. “We are on our way to court where she will be formally charged on cases of fraud and the misuse of state resources,” he said yesterday (Wednesday) morning. Piet Arendse is currently acting in Molatjana’s position as Limpopo Head of Hawks.
“Molatjana was suspended following allegations of her allegedly instructing junior members of the Police to transport her son from Polokwane to a college in Pretoria on a weekly basis, using state vehicles. It is alleged that the offence occurred in 2012,” Mulaudzi said.
Molatjana is also accused of allegedly registering a family member with a medical scheme using the name of her secretary as well as allegedly claiming trips done by state vehicles as if her private vehicle was used on various occasions.
It is also alleged that in 2011, Molatjana was transported by a Police vehicle to OR Tambo International Airport, but submitted a claim for using her personal vehicle. In another incident she allegedly attended a wedding in Thohoyandou but visited the Organised Crime Unit on her way to make it seem like an official trip.
