Baroka Football Club beat Thanda Zulu Royals 4-0 at Umhlathuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay on Sunday to move from sixth to second position of the National First Division (NFD).
Baroka’s goals were scored by striker Tha-biso Kutumela and Christy Ndlovu in the first and the second half of the match. Kutumela, who joined the Ga-Mphahlele based out three seasons ago, is currently the leading goal scorer of the NFD with six goals after four matches.
Team Manager, Oupa Kgoadi said they were happy with Kutumela’s contribution to the success of the team.
“He has been a marvel to watch this season. He is doing well for us, we hope he can continue with the same throughout the season to help us to achieve our goal which is to play in the Premier Soccer League next season,” Kgoadi said.
He also mentioned they won’t undermine the new campaigners in the division Mthatha Bucks whom the face on Sunday at Mthatha Stadium in Eastern Cape. Bucs, who were promoted to the NFD in July this season from ABC Motsepe league, are still without a win in their last four matches.
Their bad run in the division sees them in 16th position of the division with two draws and 2 losses. “We are aware of the bad run in the league but we won’t take them for granted. We are going to approach the match like any other match in the division and we believe we will come out as victors,” Kgoadi said.
Cape Town All Stars handed Black Leopards Football Club their first loss of the season on Sunday at Thohoyandou Stadium after defeating them 2-0.
All Stars goals were scored by Tshwarelo Bereng and Thapelo Mathibe in the first and second stanza of the match.
The Venda based outfit will be hoping to redeem themselves when they welcome FC Cape Town on Saturday at Thohoyandou Stadium. “It is a must win for us. We have put the previous results behind us. We are focusing on the next match and the ultimate goal is to collect every point,” Leopards Spokesperson, Berry Ramunenyiwa said.
