Suspended Limpopo Head of the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), Dibero Molatjana was expected to argue charges of fraud against her by the South African Police Service Disciplinary Committee yesterday (Wednesday).
Hawks Spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi said the committee found her guilty on charges of fraud last Wednesday and she was given five days to prepare and appear before the committee again for arguments.
“It is expected that the committee will make a decision in the case within seven days,” Mulaudzi said. He explained that her appearance before the disciplinary committee runs parallel with her appearance in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Court. “I cannot recall when her next appearance before court will be. She will be charged internally after the disciplinary committee made their findings and she will face the criminal charges in court,” Mulaudzi said.
Earlier this year Molatjana was suspended pending investigations on several allegations of fraud. The disciplinary committee found her guilty on two charges of fraud last week. “She was found guilty for requesting her secretary to register her sister as a dependent on a medical aid scheme as well as instructing her subordinates to use service vehicles to transport her son on several occasions from Polokwane to Pretoria where he was studying,” Mulaudzi said. He added that National Head of Hawks, Berning Ntlemeza has warned other members that they will face the same procedure if they involve themselves in corrupt activities.
