Along with the happiness of a new baby comes stressors such as finances, support, and a lack of sleep.
Not every new mother has the support of a husband, partner, or even family and they often end up finding themselves in a stressful situation.
Kwali Sathekge is the mother of a beautiful six-month-old girl, Lorraine. Even though Lorraine’s father is not around, she has the support of her mom and sister.
“One day, shortly after giving birth, I realised just how lucky I am to have support emotionally as well as financially. I concluded that others do not have that support and I decided to give back to those in need. Being in this fortunate position, I realised others cannot take care of their babies they way they should.”
This led Kwali to think about how she can assist others and she approached Ngwana Baby Home to offer assistance.
“There are babies from as young as a few days old to two years of age. I decided to collect and donate clothes sizes 0-3 years, nappies size 0-4, baby skin products and toiletries, both scented and unscented, and Infacare milk. I think they will benefit from toys as well. Most of us have baby clothes that our children only wore once or twice and that we can donate. I want to donate these items regularly and not just as a once-off event.”
Anyone who would like to donate can contact Kwali at 072 179 5526 or Lisa at 065 883 5331.
