Cleaver Awards: Vleislapa butcheries the best of the best

Vleislapa’s reputation as a business of integrity where you can always find the best quality meat at the most reasonable prices was recently affirmed when two Vleislapa butcheries won Cleaver awards.
Vleislapa Marshall Street was named best butchery in South Africa in the category for butcheries with four or more till points, while Vleislapa Grobler Street was named best butchery in Limpopo in the category for butcheries with four or more till points.
The Cleaver Awards is an initiative of the South African Red Meat Industry Forum and acknowledge butcheries that meet consumer expectations on in-store hygiene, the supply of quality assured roller marked South African Beef, their level of competency in offering the best advice on meal preparations and value for money.
The Cleaver Awards were launched in 2005 and feedback from consumers shows that the majority perceive the Cleaver Awards to be a seal of approval.
Butcheries are judged on hygiene, quality, value for money and service. Clients nominate and vote for their favourite stores and a shortlist of the best butcheries is compiled.
These butcheries are then judged by a panel of experts according to the official Cleaver Awards 212-point checklist.
Vleislapa Marshall Street has grown from provincial winner four years ago to national winner and owners Marius and Elaine van Tonder say they could not be happier with this result. They credit the hard work of all the personnel as being the reason why they won this prestigious meat industry award.
Vleislapa in Grobler Street, under the guidance of manager Stefan Stoltz, has won eight Cleaver Awards thus far and their provincial win is the cherry on top of their continued success.
Van Tonder says he wants to thank all Vleislapa clients for their loyalty and for voting in the competition. He assures clients that Vleislapa butcheries will always continue to strive to deliver quality products and excellent service.
“Our clients are like a big family to us and Vleislapa has become a place where friends meet,” he says. Van Tonder thanked his brother Kobus for teaching him all he needed to know in order to run a successful butchery.
