Baroka Football Club maintained their unbeaten run in the National First Division (NFD) when they trashed Moroka Swallows 3-0 at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday to win their fifth match of the season.
Captain Dineo Shaku, Nkosinathi Ndlovu and Loyiso Simandla were the heroes of the team after they managed to score in the second half.
The feat sees them on top of the division with 17 points and two draws after seven matches. Technical Director of the team, Oupa Kgoadi said they were happy with the results and vowed to maintain their lead in the league. “Every team is fighting for points in the division and we are no different. We made a resolution at the beginning of the season that we must at least win all games and we are glad with the progress we have made thus far. What pleases us the most is that we are winning away matches which are difficult sometimes, credit must go to team for their commitment and dedication,” Kgoadi said.
He also mentioned their focus is to do well against Royal Eagles whom they will host at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
Eagles, who have acquired the services of former Premier Soccer League (PSL) players such as Dominic Issacs, Katlego Mphela, Raymond Monama, Thulasizwe Mbuyane, Kethowakhe Masuku and Njabulo Manqana are on the sixth position of the log with 11 points after seven matches.
“They are a good team with experienced players but we are not afraid of them. We played against Swallows who had six ex-PSL players and we outpaced them. I don’t think they will match our pace. We have a young, strong team that is willing to take on any opponent,” Kgoadi said.
