Baroka flying high in National First Division

Baroka Football Club beat the new campaigners in the National First Division (NFD) Mthata Bucks 2-0 in their fifth match of the division at Mthata Stadium in Eastern Cape last Sunday.
The goals for the Ga-Mphahlele based outfit were scored by strikers Victor Letsoalo and Lucky Mothoa in the first and the second halves of the match.
This feat sees Boroka at the top of the NFD log with 13 points after five games, a position which gives them an upper hand against Black Leopards whom they face at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday. “It going to be a tough match. Leopards is a good team, they beat us twice last season in the first and the second round of the season. It is time to do well against them and I think we will walk away with three points,” Technical Director of the team, Oupa Kgoadi said.
Kgoadi also mentioned that they intend to keep the number one spot until the end of the season. “It is not an easy task, but we are ready for the challenge and for us to remain at the top we have to collect maximum points from every match,” Kgoadi said.
Black Leopards thrashed 3-1 FC Cape Town at Thohoyandou Stadium to move from fifth position to third position of the NFD last week.
Leopards Spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa said they will want to maintain the winning streak against the inform Baroka. “It is a Limpopo derby and definitely not going to be an easy match. We are aware that they have never beaten us last season and we don’t want to underestimate them. We are going to put up a good fight,” Ramunenyiwa said.
