POLOKWANE – After initial reports suggested that this morning’s armed robbery in Savannah Mall was targeted at a store, new information suggests that a single person was robbed of R60 000.
The police have confirmed that a case of armed robbery has been opened after a 42-year-old official from the Maghesi Football Association was robbed at 10:12 this morning.
“The official withdrew R60 000 from a bank ATM after which he proceeded to the basement parking area. The victim was accosted by two armed suspects who robbed him. The suspects wrestled the bag containing the money from the victim and a shot was fired during the process, but no one was injured.”
According to preliminary police investigations, the suspects fled in a white VW Golf with registration numbers HJD 151 MP.
The police urges anyone with information to contact their nearest police or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
POLOKWANE – The management of Savannah Mall confirmed that an armed robbery took place at a store within the mall earlier today.
Polokwane Police Spokesperson, Cpt Lesiba Ramoshaba confirmed the incident.
“The police are currently on the scene and investigations are unfolding. More information will be made public once it becomes available.”
