The third Ry’s & RE/MAX Skateboarding Competition was hosted at Mall of the North’s parking area on Saturday and skateboarders from as far as Gauteng competed for the substantial first prizes.
This year saw fewer skateboarders entering the competition, but those who participated provided much action for spectators and event organiser, Rynardt van der Merwe was stunned by some of the competitors’ abilities.
Principal of RE/MAX Northland Realty Wilsie Oosthuizen said the contestants were eager to show off their skills and techniques and he was happy to see some of last year’s competitors back in action. “Even though we had fewer entries we received positive feedback and skateboarders enjoyed the competition. They were very excited about the first prizes in the three categories, an action camera,” Oosthuizen said, adding that planning on next year’s event will start soon.
Polokwane made a clean sweep taking first positions in all categories.
