5029

A current and a former member of the Westenburg V-Dub Crew died on Sunday in a motor vehicle accident on the N1 South between Polokwane and Mokopane.
Fazel du Plessis, 30 and Neil Heyns, 27 (who recently resigned from the V-Dub Crew) attended the Westenburg V-Dub Crew Charity Bash at Westenburg Park in Polokwane on Saturday.
“Today is a very dark day in the community of Westenburg. We have lost two young souls. We as a crew and community are hurting. To the Du Plessis and Heyns families we (would) like to send our heartfelt condolences. Fazel du Plessis and Neil Heyns will forever be in our hearts,” was the message posted on Westenburg V-Dub Crew’s Facebook page on Sunday evening.
Prayers with the Heyns family took place yesterday (Wednesday). Prayers with the Du Plessis family will take place today (Thursday) at 18:00 at 123 Buys Street.
There will be a combined memorial service on Friday at 18:00 at the Westenburg community hall and on Saturday a combined funeral service will take place at 08:00 at the Westenburg community hall.
Both the families extended their gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support.
Riaan Venter, Manager of Goldwagen Polokwane where Heyns worked, said it was with enormous sadness that they learnt of Heyns’s sudden passing.
“Neil truly crept into the hearts of everyone at Goldwagen. We find it extremely difficult to say goodbye but know that Neil is with his Creator, with his big smile and warm heart.
“From the Goldwagen personnel and management we would like to say to his wife Erica, his parents and friends that we mourn with them but know that Neil would want us to celebrate his life on earth. Rest in peace, our friend, we will see you again one day,” was Venter’s message.
