Two in court after Vuwani unrest

Two suspects arrested yesterday (Monday) on charges of malicious damage to property and incitement to commit public violence in Vuwani are expected to appear in the Malamulele Magistrate’s Court later this afternoon (Tuesday).
Renewed unrest was reported on Sunday night when roads were blocked by communities in the area. Residents of Vuwani and surrounds are still disgruntled over demarcation issues.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said since last night until this morning the situation was relatively quiet with no reported incidents except the sporadic incidents where residents are throwing stone at passing vehicles. “These incidents were immediately addressed by the Public Order Policing Unit (Pops) who will continue to monitor the area for now,” Ngoepe said.
Investigations continue.
