Two children die in petrol bomb attack

Police are investigating two cases of murder and one of arson following the deaths of two children, aged two and five, during an incident at Sekgakgapeng village outside Mokopane on Friday when suspects allegedly threw a petrol bomb at a house.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that Kamogelo (5) and her sister Sadie Kekana (2) were reportedly asleep in the home with their mother and other family members when unknown suspect(s) allegedly threw what is believed to be a petrol bomb at the house.
The house caught fire immediately and the family of eight was trapped inside, according to Ngoepe. Police who responded to the call found that some family members had managed to escape from the house which by then was engulfed in flames.
Emergency services and the fire brigade also arrived on the scene and declared Kamogelo dead while Sadie died underway to hospital, Ngoepe indicated. Other members of the family were also taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Ngoepe indicated that the motive behind the incident is still being investigated but domestic violence cannot be ruled out. Police are requesting Bongani Abrahm Boshomane (45) to report to Mahwelereng Police Station soonest as it is believed that he might assist with investigations.
Provincial Police Commissioner Nneke Ledwaba has condemned the brutal incident and urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or to report to the nearest Police station.
