Suspended Municipal Manager

Lesetja Malope - Polokwane’s suspended Municipal Manager, Advocate Letsepe Thubakgale has tendered his resignation. Thubakgale, who was suspended mid 2009 amid allegations of mismanagement of funds, handed in his resignation last week.

Businessman receives pilot license

Passionate aviation enthusiast and local businessman, Mr Leon de Villiers has proved that with enough motivation, dedication and a committed instructor anything is possible. De Villiers, co-owner of SHS Security received his pilot’s licence from instructor, Mr Jonty Esser last week after just four months’ training.
SHS Security has since formed the SHS Security Airwing dedicated to fighting crime hands on during joint efforts with the Police Airwing.

Sanbs honours samaritans of blood

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) honoured its most loyal blood donors in the province at an awards ceremony on Friday.
The event, held at Gateway International Airport’s conference centre, was attended by among others, the president of the organisation Dr Sam Gulube, who was also the guest speaker on the night.
“Blood cannot be manufactured and science has tried all sorts of molecules including, bovine molecules, but has failed.

Next art evening dedicated to Picasso

The next film, food and art evening which has become a regular on the city’s social calendar will feature Picasso.
The occasions are dedicated to the art of living and combine art with good food and films.
Dress code for the evening of 27 August is something Spanish to pick up on the Attworx Studio-hosted programme, which will address the life and art of this well-known figure.

ERA Polokwane National Office of the Year

 ERA Real Estate – Polokwane was recently awarded by ERA South Africa with the National Rookie Office Award for 2008. This prestigious award was won, amongst 75 national offices, as recognition for the top performing office that joined ERA during the evaluation period. 
The evaluation criteria was based on the average results per sales associate on rand value and number of units sold, registered and reported to ERA South Africa.

Jazz maestro to sizzle at Meropa

Brian Baragwanath wins Mafikeng Championships

The 2009 Mafikeng Mini Desert National Off-road Motorcycle and Quad Championships produced a new winner. 
Local quad rider Brian Baragwanath won the quad category for the first time and 2007 motorcycle winner, Louwrens Mahoney did so again when he won this event that formed the fourth round of the national off-road championships of both categories.
After the 58km time trail, Mahoney posted the fastest time and started the race from pole position.
