Sex scandal rocks Health Department

A legal team of the Department of Health and Social Development has been appointed to preside over a matter of alleged sexual harassment and rape. According to the department’s spokesperson, Mr William Chauke an investigation process is ongoing following a senior official of Limpopo Emergency Services (EMS) stationed at Louis Trichardt being accused of allegedly demanding sex in exchange for employment favours.

Municipality to root out illegal land use in city

Speaking during the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget consultation meeting at Jack Botes Hall on Monday evening, Mr Sam Mabotja, Acting Municipal Manager, said attorneys have already been appointed to deal with the culprits.

Danél Esterhuysen - Houses set alight after alleged witchcraft. - Police in Maake are investigating an incident of public violence after a group of people set alight two houses of a family after accusing them of witchcraft. According to information the incident happened on Monday morning when a group of villagers from the Magaung village at Sekororo, Maake accused an elderly woman and her daughter of practising witchcraft. Two houses belonging to the family were set alight and destroyed in the incident. Nobody was injured.

Businesspersons demand forensic audit

Emerging entrepreneurs known as the Forum of Limpopo Entrepreneurs are demanding a forensic audit on the allocation of RDP houses and distribution of food parcels from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
They also called for a forensic audit on the appointment of the Project Management Unit (PMU) from Roads and Transport Department.

FIFA pleased with complex

Fifa General Secretary Jérôme Valcke said he was happy with the readiness of the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex ahead of the 2010 World Cup.
Valcke was addressing throngs of regional, national and international journalists, at the Stadium during the Fifa 100 days to the World Cup countdown road show on Saturday.
Valcke acknowledged that they will have more tickets to accommodate fans from neighbouring countries, Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe as Polokwane being closest stadium.
