Team SA bites the dust

The Polokwne Oval track was a hive of activity this past weekend when racers from the United Kingdom visited to compete against a South African team consisting of racers from Polokwane, Brakpan, Klerksdorp and a Pretoria team, the Barbarians.
In the first heat the South Africans ruled in front of the race but at the rear the UK visitors shuffled the South Africans to the back of the pack.
In the second heat local confidence went out the window as the English took all the podium places with the Barbarians close on their heels.
The English drivers grabbed maximum points. After two major incidents the South Africans were left with three members on track and five on the infield not able to compete. When the marshals cleaned the track from spares, body panels and blown egos the English only had to hold station to win. The English won with 190 points to the Barbarians’ 181 and South Africa’s 127.
