Mariëtte van de Werken -
Communication giant, Vodacom hosted a
unique cooking competition contested by local
media houses at Grincourt on Saturday.
Led by Ms Dora Francis, Vodacom Marketing
Manager, the day turned out to be great fun for the
competitors, Vodacom staff and judges.
Polokwane Observer walked away with the first prize. No surprise there,
with a team like ours, nothing less is expected.
We cooked up a storm with Mpho Dube, Danél Esterhuysen and Liebrecht van der Merwe turning out to be top chefs. The mouth watering dish they came up with
blew the judges away. Apart from a natural flair for cooking their success can also be largely attributed to the support of the best cheering team ever. They had no choice but to vote us number one.
Other teams competing were SABC, Jacaranda RMFM, Limpopo online and Capricorn FM. Jacaranda RMFM took second place with only three members in the cooking team and no cheering team (well done) and SABC came third.Polokwane Observer’s team, named Talking Points for the day,
was ably led by our Editor, Yolande Nel and questions about the Vodacom
services were easily dealt with to give us a great advantage.
The cheering team took part in exciting,
fun filled events and collected Vodacom hampers like crazy,
filling our bags with Vodacom T-shirts, caps and water
bottles. We congratulate the other contestants for their
effort and thank Vodacom for a lovely, relaxing day
and look forward to the next competition.
