In a man’s world she is a woman with passion, creativity and understanding for customers’ needs.
Ms Conny Mehale, Sales Executive at Mercurius Polokwane strives to deliver pro-active customer service to each potential Jeep, Chrysler or Dodge buyer.
"I entered the motor industry in 2005 in Volkswagen and Audi’s workshop as customer service consultant. Here I learnt how to work with customers and to perform to my best to keep them smiling," she says.
Feeling the need to put even bigger smiles on peoples’ faces she decided to join Mercurius Polokwane in 2007 as the dealership’s first black female sales executive.
"I had to prove myself because during training workshops my colleagues raised their eyebrows wondering if I would ever make my mark in the motor industry," Mehale says.
"I have excelled ever since. I was named Best Market Centre Sales Executive in the country for the first two years and crowned Sales Executive of the Year in 2010," she proudly states.
According to Mehale patience, the ability to listen and humility are the key elements that make a good sales executive.
"It is not selling fish and chips, it is a process. You have to approach a potential customer correctly, identify his needs by listening closely, do your paper work and humbly wait for the results of a successful deal. Never push a client into making a decision," she advises.
She also mentions that follow-up work is very important in order to continuously monitor if your customers are happy.
She explains that it is not easy for a woman in the motor industry. "Despite proving yourself, you have to work long hours while managing a household too."
According to her, women have the advantage of being able to multi-task to balance and successfully complete their daily activities. Of this Mehale is living proof. She is the proud mother of a daughter who holds an honours degree in Administration. She enjoys interior decoration in her limited free time.
Her all-time favourite vehicle is the Jeep Commander and she can’t see herself selling any other brand with the same passion and dedication.
"Jeep proved itself a long time ago. It is an affordable and capable vehicle," Mehale states, adding that she continues to set higher goals for herself in the industry all the time.
