Mr South Africa, the multi talented was set to Adriaan Bergh visit a number of local schools yesterday (Wednesday) as part of his his countrywide tour that kicked off on 18 January.
A press release states that the tour is set to take him to more than 50 schools around the country.
The tour aims to reach out to more than 30 000 learners and teach them the importance of living an active, healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Learners will also have an opportunity to talk openly and listen to someone they can relate to.
His motivational talks are based on the movement Balanced 24/7 and he draws from his travels, sporting achievements and academics to reach out to his audiences.
Bergh, an all rounder when it comes to sport, won provincial colours in at least six sporting codes while still at school.
“My parents showed me the importance of balancing sport, academics and leadership. I know what it means to have balance in life and I think the youth will be able to relate to me,” Bergh says. Amongst other issues which he touches on include peer pressure, the need to have dreams as well as working hard to achieve goals.
He says that he wants to encourage and inspire learners to strike a balance in their lives and move away from fashion. “It is important for children to know who they are and understand that these trends don’t make them who they are.
This is where balance becomes important again, you have to know where to draw the line, with friends, sport, family and peer pressure,” he explains.
Hailing from Bela-Bela the former Vodacom Blue Bulls Rugby Squad member will be visiting schools in his home town as well as Mookgophong, Mokopane and Modimolle in the coming days.
