Mixed reactions from business over administration

The present Section 100 national intervention into five provincial departments has resulted in several businesses in various sectors being affected negatively.
Finance Minister, Mr Pravin Gordhan reportedly met with several of government’s service providers on Thursday and tension apparently flared up when some of the businesses who were not paid for services rendered voiced their concerns.
The South African Property Owners’ Association’s (Sapoa) Provincial Chairperson, Prof Jo Nel said though the intervention has unintended negative consequences he is optimistic that the end result will be a better Limpopo province.
“There’s a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel which means the province can grow very well and better, but we need competent administrators,” he said, adding that the situation has affected some Sapoa members.
The organisation’s attempts to interact with the local municipality on the matter have been without success. “We have tried to liaise with the Municipal Manager but we do not get any cooperation from there,” Nel said.
“I am convinced the intervention will turn out well for the province and I know the Premier is also committed to the process,” he added.
At the time of going to print Polokwane Chamber of Business President,Mr Matsobane Tleane, Black Management Forum Provincial Chairperson, Mr Abram Luruli and President of National African Federated Chamber of Commerce’s construction wing, Mr Danny Masimene could not be reached for comment on the matter.
