Local cyclists were among the best performers at the recent Gauteng North Cycling Championships held at Rooiwal outside Pretoria. Saturday’s tough road race saw Polokwane cyclists Leandri Janse van Rensburg, first junior lady, Jacques Neethling, u.14 boys, third, and Elbie Lourens, first lady over 55 receiving medals.
Janse van Rensburg and Neethling retained their positions during the time trials while Lourens finished second in in her class.
Cyclists are reminded of the annual Makhulu 5 race that will be hosted at die Hoër Landbouskool Kuschke on 11 February by Polokwane Pedallers. Road and mountain bikers can enter in the 10, 50 and 100 km or 20- and 45 km races respectively.
