Dynamos Football Club is negotiating with Shepherd Murape to become the team’s coach in the 2010/2011 First National Division (NFD) season. This is according to Dynamos’ Administration Officer, Joe Mbiza. Since parting ways with former coach Jacob Sakala last season, the Giyani outfit has been looking for a coach that can take the team to greater heights.
"Murape is here with us, but nothing has been agreed to so far and the negotiations are still on. He is helping us to identify the new players and accessing the team," Mbiza said.
Asked what is halting the process since his arrival at the team’s camp a fortnight ago, Mbiza cited that negotiations are negotiations. "We must agree. In the contract there are lots of things, issues of money accommodation and performance which need to be clarified before he becomes our official coach," Mbiza explained. He said the team has overstayed its welcome in the NFD.
"It is time to challenge for Premier Soccer League status. There are lots of problems and challenges in the NFD. We are not happy to be playing here. We want to gain promotion this season. In that quest we have decided to retain 90% of last year’s squad and the team and our top goal scorer Mulundo Shikwivuli," Mbiza said.
Murape, who hails from Zimbabwe, is known to possess crucial knowledge of coaching. He has coached United FC, Nathi Lions, Black Leopards which are campaigning in NFD and the defunct Ria Stars. He also had short stint at the Zimbabwe Warriors before taking over the Namibian national team.
