Boy Mamabolo accused of domestic violence

Newly elected Chairperson of the Provincial Geographical Names Committee, Mr Boy Mamabolo has been in the hot seat less than a month yet already a cloud hangs over his head following allegations of domestic violence between him and girlfriend Magdeline Makgatho.
Makgatho is accusing Mamabolo of verbal and emotional abuse over a period of months. She further claims he beat her up last weekend when the couple stayed over at Pitts Lodge. She insists that Mamabolo, the father of their one year old son, "should be exposed for the true man that he is. He always threatens me and I am afraid of him," Makgatho exclusively told Polokwane Observer.

She further claims that the couple, who has been together for more than three years, went to both the Seshego and Polokwane Police Stations together over the weekend. "I wanted to get a protection order against him from the police, but I was told to come back after I had calmed down. Afterwards he told me that he loves me and is going to marry me," she says.
When asked to comment on the allegations, Mamabolo denied everything.
"I did not touch that woman. I do not beat up women. She (Makgatho) told me that she is going to the media to expose me and she even sent me an SMS saying that she has spoken to the Polo-kwane Observer. Whatever she says I do not care. Maybe she got the bruises from her boyfriend because when she came to visit me from Pretoria she was like that. I have nothing to do with it," he said. In text messages allegedly sent by Mamabolo to Makgatho’s phone following Polokwane Observer’s call to him, he contradicts himself by saying: "I know everything that you (Matgatho) are doing in Pretoria, that is why I kicked you that eye…"
He goes on to describe the alleged fight as the normal ups and downs of a relationship and blames Makgatho, texting that she is the one who "always pushes to far intentionally." Makgatho confirms that the couple is still in contact with each other and trying to work things out.
Mamabolo was inaugurated as Chairperson of Provincial Geographical Names Committee early February. He is also a branch secretary of the African National Congress (ANC) Youth League and a board member of Limpopo Tourism and Parks.
