Rotary greets exchange student

The Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 hosted a dinner at the local Bowls Club to bid Rotary exchange student Otavio Osorio from Brazil farewell after his one year stay in the city.
Otavio was hosted by four families from the community and said that he was very sad to leave after his hosting families became his parents, brothers and sisters. “I even had a pig as my first pet and will never forget all the trips and visits on which the Rotarians took me along,” he said.
“According to Otavio, 2017 was the best year of his life. “I came here as a shy youngster and I am leaving as a man. I could not say two words from a podium and tonight I am standing here in front of you all giving my speech,” Otavio proudly said.
Otavio presented a slide show of some highlights of his stay. Among many trips and outings, he visited Mozambique, the Kruger Park and Sun City with his South African host families and said that Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world. “Polokwane, however, became my home and I will be back,” he promised.
Otavio involved himself in all the club’s humanitarian projects and said that the exposure changed his whole outlook of life. “I am a changed person,” he said and thanked the Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 for the opportunity to serve.
