Koketso Mazunda was announced as Polokwane’s Top Model 2017 amid tough competition at the Airport Africa Lodge in a catwalk competition to see who shows of their clothes the best last Saturday.
Katryn Barwise from Limpopo Beauty Modelling Academy arranged the competition and contestants had to wear beachwear and a high fashion semi-formal outfit during the catwalk competition.
“With close to 40 entries this one of a kind catwalk competition was a massive success,” Barwise said. Competitors in five age categories took part, but the top model was chosen from the 16 to 25 year old category.
As it was not a beauty contest, no crowning took place, but every contestant received a certificate and the winners each received a sash and a prize.
Each category had three winners, namely best photogenic model, runner-up and top model for the age group.
Trophies were also awarded in two categories, namely Miss Public Choice, won by Mieke Britz and the model with the best technique, who walked best with her dress, was Clarishialynn du Plessis.
Marné Thompson was the runner-up in the 16 to 25 year category and Jeanne-mari de Jonge was chosen as best photogenic model in the 16 to 25 age group.
In the 4 to 6 year-old category the winners were Cassey-lee Butler, chosen as the best photogenic model, Pheladi Ngoasheng as runner-up and the top model in this age group was Phathu Tshivula.
The junior Top Model Polokwane 2017 in the age category 7 to 9 is Paballo Selolo, with runner-up Nondumiso Sibiya and the best photogenic model was Nia van Zyl. Top Model Polokwane Junior Teen 2017 in the age group 10 to 12 was Wilita Lee and the runner-up was Palesa Masimene. Danielle Britz was the best photogenic model.
