Two men suspected of being involved in the recent attack on Peter-Murray and Megan Cross on their farm in the Hoopdal region near Thabazimbi were arrested in Thembisa on Monday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed the arrest but could not give any indication about when they were expected to appear in the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court.
Police immediately launched a massive manhunt for five suspects responsible for the attack and robbery on 25 September during which the family was allegedly overpowered, tied up and assaulted.
The suspects then allegedly fled in the family’s bakkie having looted personal belongings, seven hunting rifles, two handguns, four cell phones and cash.
The victims managed to free themselves a few hours after the incident and notified Police who later found the bakkie abandoned in North West province.
Intensive investigations led members of the Heritage Protection Group and the Police to a house in Thembisa on Monday morning where one suspect was arrested. A second arrest was executed in the same area later that evening, it was learnt.
