Pietersburg English Medium Primary School (Pemps) Grade R learners impressed their parents with their soccer skills during the annual Tigers Cup 2015 on Saturday.
The tournament was played in knockout format and saw the girls and the boys’ teams under guidance of their team motivators eliminating each other through the group stages.
The Bee Boys Blue beat the Bee Boys Red 1-0 to advance to the finals and in the other semi-final the Ladybird Boys Green defeated the Ladybird Boys Yellow 2-1.
In the final Remo Rapudi and Xolani Nzima of the Bee Boys Blue scored the winning goals to ensure a 2-0 victory against the Ladybird Boys Green.
The girls’ semi-finals saw the Bee Girls Red knock out the Bee Girls Blue 1-0 after which they took on the Ladybird Girls Green who had earlier eliminated the Ladybird Girls Yellow 2-0. The girls’ final was won by the Bee Girls Red with Carla Antonio, the reigning Miss Pemps Junior scoring the only goal of the match.
The parents’ match was won 2-1 by the Yellow Bee team.
Pemps Grade R Principal, Karin Adlem congratulated all the learners who took part in the tournament and applauded parents for their support. “We are extremely happy with the support shown by the parents on the day. It was a good family day filled with fun and excitement. The children were eager to show their parents their soccer skills which excited everyone. All the teams are winners and we are looking forward to another exciting tournament next year,” she said.
