Water supply to consumers in the municipal area may be affected later today (Thursday) due to the shutdown of Olifantspoort Plant earlier this morning.
Communications and Marketing Manager of Polokwane Municipality, Matshidiso Mothapo said in a media release that the plant had to be shut down to facilitate repairs to the Specon line. “Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) has informed that the repairs may take more than 12 hours to be completed,” Mothapo said.
“All areas being supplied from Olifantspoort will be affected, including Seshego, the city and surrounding area, Mankweng, Westenburg, Ivy Park as well as all the high catchment areas. The public is advised to use water sparingly during this period to maintain reservoir levels.”
Mothapo requested residents to report all water issues, including shortages to 015 290 2629 or 290 2376.
