Mountain bikers on the lookout for a challenge on their doorstep should gear up for the annual Makhulu5 MTB Race scheduled for 16 February as online entries have already opened.
Prospective entrants should go to www.mallofthenorth.co.za and be reminded that online entries close on 13 February. The first 200 paid entries will receive a goody bag.
The popular race, once again presented by Polokwane Pedellars Cycling Club (PPCC), will start from, and finish, at the overflow parking of Mall of the North. It offers a scenic ride over distances of 65, 35 or 15 km with entry costs being R220, R180 and R60 respectively. A day licence can be obtained at R35.
Late entries can be outside Trappers Trading from 18:30 to 19:00 on the day before the race or from 06:00 to 07:00 prior to the start of the race.
The 65 km category is set to start at 07:30, the 35 km 15 minutes later at 07:45 and the 15 km at 08:00.
The organisers are reminding participants that the race in governed by the rules and regulations of Cycling South Africa (CSA). No helmet, no ride.
