With a laser light show and super bonus draw in which R200 000 in cash and free play as well as a Nissan NP200 bakkie was won by 15 lucky winners, Meropa Casino and Entertainment World celebrated their 15th anniversary on Monday.
Traditional dance troupe, Makubenjalo, entertained guests with their incredible dancing, interpretive movements, heartfelt song and uplifting drumming.
The festivities started when Russia Chabalala, Meropa Events and Entertainment Coordinator, invited guests to join the Meropa team in the courtyard for a spectacular laser light show after which Peter Guthrie, General Manager took to the stage to toast Meropa’s birthday.
Guthrie said great things are planned for the near future including the Meropa Hotel, a Moroccan style luxury hotel that will open in August. “We are also planning on bringing big name fast food restaurants to our Wild Things area. We will also upgrade all outdoor entertainment areas and incorporate an internet café,” he said.
After toasting Meropa and cutting the birthday cake, baked by Meropa’s Financial Manager, Glenda Ramathavha, Guthrie got a face full of it when Public Relations and Promotions Manager Raksha Gunpath gave him the first taste of the beautiful creation.
Guests also received sparkling wine and enough cake was brought out from the banqueting area to feed an army.
The celebration continued with a very exiting lucky draw for which all Most Valued Guest programme members who have earned ten points or more between 1 and 27 March qualified. There were also 15 winners instead of the usual ten and Meropa gave away R200 000 in cash and free play instead of the usual R100 000.
Maamokwale Mafokwane was the lucky winner of R20 000 cash and Moshito Mothiba drove away in the brand new Nissan NP200.
