Malls host blood drives in city

While many residents spent their long weekend elsewhere shoppers at Savannah Mall and Limpopo Mall rolled up their sleeves to participate in blood drives held by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) Limpopo on Monday.
At Savannah Mall the SANBS Limpopo team had their hands full during the first few hours of operation. “We are aiming for fifteen units today and it is going great so far. I think it being a long weekend helps.” SANBS Clinic Attendant Joseph Letsoalo stated adding that four donors had turned up within the first hour. Twenty-six units of blood were collected in total.
SANBS Donor Attendant Piet Makwela said their team at Limpopo Mall had a target of 14 units with donations getting off to a slow start. As the day went on they eventually collected 12 units.
The next clinics will be held on 31 March at Mall of the North’s Edgars court, and in the parking area at Bendor shopping centre.
