A 20-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Giyani Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Friday) on a charge of murder following an incident yesterday (Wednesday) in which a 14-year-old learner from Mbangezike High School in Xikukwani Village was allegedly killed.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the deceased learner was identified as Cells Moyani who earlier the day had an alleged argument with a 15-year-old learner. The 15-year-old learner reportedly called his older brother and they followed Cells home where he was allegedly stabbed to death with a sharp object, according to Ngoepe.
Subsequent to the killing, Xikukwani residents went on the rampage and set the suspect’s home on fire.
Police and members of the Public Order Policing Unit (Pops) were summoned to the scene. All is calm but Pops are still patrolling the area to monitor the situation, according to Ngoepe. No arrests in connection with the torching of the house have been made as yet.
Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, Chris Mabasa on 082 469 0739.
