Land Rover Velar, Discovery tested to the limit

Land Rover enthusiasts were given the opportunity to experience the Range Rover Velar and all-new Land Rover Discovery’s capabilities when Land Rover Polokwane hosted instructors from Jaguar Land Rover Experience (JLRE) and a simulated off-road circuit, Terrapod at their showroom on Saturday.
Potential and existing clients were eager to find out more about the two vehicles’ capabilities and their technical features to assist a driver during off-road conditions. Driving over obstacles forming part of the Terrapod is a good indication of how top-class technology is fitted into the vehicles and utilised to make off-road driving effortless. One of the obstacles demonstrated how torque is shifted to other wheels when one of the wheels is aired while the other showed how the vehicles easily climb a 25 degree incline then lifted a further almost 6 m to create a steep decline without the vehicle rolling forward.
Range Rover Velar, voted best selling luxury SUV in South Africa for October 2017 has a revolutionary design. Its elegant sides and exemplary range of standard features such as deployable flush door handles and integrated rear spoiler all improve aerodynamic efficiency, while the foil-stamped grille gives the vehicle‘s front profile an undeniable presence. Sleek LED headlights and rear lights are also standard.
On the interior a specialist team has meticulously developed every component that you see and touch, to deliver a refined, tactile experience. Supple leathers or premium textile and suedecloth can be specified for seats throughout the cabin. Range Rover Velar‘s Sports Command Driving Position helps deliver a more confident, engaged drive. The elevated position gives you unrivalled views, adding to the feeling of safety and security.
The standard Touch Pro Duo infotainment system makes life more connected and entertaining. The system seamlessly integrates two 10-inch high-definition touchscreens to enable you to make a phone call on one screen while navigating on the other. Touch Pro Duo is complemented with full-colour Head-up Display, an optional state-of-the-art system providing sharp graphics and optional Interactive Driver Display with configurable touch steering wheel controls.
Range Rover Velar has world-renowned Land Rover capability at its core. Standard features include All Wheel Drive (AWD) with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD), Adaptive Dynamics and Torque Vectoring by Braking to deliver a connected drive. Adding to driver confidence off-road, optional features include Electronic Air Suspension, All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Terrain Response 2 and an Active Rear Locking Differential.
Regarding the all-new Discovery, form, function and exemplary levels of finesse are brought together to help create one of Land Rover’s most compelling vehicles to date. Its inherent strength and off-road capabilities are matched only by its bold contemporary looks and alluring touches of luxury. Inside, astute use of space coupled with high quality design and use of premium materials enhance the vehicle’s bold horizontal and vertical lines. The versatility of the cabin is highlighted by the easily configurable optional seven seat layout and plentiful stowage, with clever use of space and refined comfort.
