Karatekas, senseis receive trophies for excellence


The 19th annual prize giving of Henri Ek­steen’s Fight Club on Saturday saw karatekas awarded for their excellence as well as a number of senseis and coaches acknowledged and promoted.
Edward Makobela was named Best Overall Karateka of Excellence while Stephen Andrew was presented with trophies for 100% Gashuku attendance, Senior Karateka of the Year and Best Overall Karateka of the Year.
Senpai Khensani Mashela was promoted to sensei and first dan while sensei Donald Mongoai was promoted to second dan.
Other awards that were made are:
Kgotso Mampane – most inspirational karateka
Karabo Motshekga – Pee Wee of the Year
Ayo Manganyi – Junior Karateka of the Year
Mongoai family – best participating family
Ethan Bell – 100% class and Gashuku attendance
