Hawks arrest suspect in tender case

The Hawks in Limpopo this morning (Friday) arrested a male suspect after apparently receiving a tipoff from a complainant who had allegedly tendered for a R22 million security contract advertised by a department and was reportedly approached by the suspect to pay a bribe.
Hawks Limpopo Spokesperson Matimba Maluleke said the suspect had allegedly told the complainant that his tender had qualified but that an amount would need to be paid.
Matimba said it still had to be confirmed whether the suspect was an employee of the department. The charges against the suspect were also still to be determined he said.
At the time of going to press the amount involved was still being counted.
