Polokwane Municipality will follow the tradition of recent years when the festive lights at Flora Park Dam are switched on tomorrow (Friday) evening at 19:30.
Disree Manyane, Stakeholder Relations Officer in the Communications and Marketing Unit of the municipality, announced in a media release that a full programme of entertainment was lined up for the evening and advised the public to arrive from 18:00 onwards.
“Residents are welcome to bring along their camp chairs and picnic baskets,” the statement read and added that local vendors will be in place to sell food stuffs suitable for everyone’s appetite and kiddies’ festive toys and accessories that will complement the outing. Strict street vending systems will be put in place.
“Executive Mayor, Thembi Nkadimeng will switch on the festive lights around 19:30 and this will be followed by a colourful display of fireworks.”
The statement advised pet owners to keep their pets safe so that they would not be disoriented by the fireworks. “The municipality will put measures in place to ensure that the display has minimal impact on areas in the neighbourhood.”
