Eagar Aquatics excel in Sasol

Swimmers from Eagar Aquatics excelled during the recent Sasol National Winter Swimming Championships hosted in Sasolburg from 29 June to 4 July by winning 85 medals in total of which 34 are gold.
The local team consisting of 40 swimmers further achieved 26 silver and 25 bronze medals earning them an overall second place in the championship. The senior swimmers earned themselves an overall third place while the juniors finished second.
Local swim star Ude Fuchs was announced senior Victor Ludorum and earned 13 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Other swimmers who won individual medals are Antoinette Fuchs (2 silver, 1 bronze), Laura Lennox (1 silver), Sulé van der Merwe (10 gold, 3 silver), Ashleigh Hunter (1 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze), Johan Jannash (3 gold), Ivan Beukes (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze), Kyle Gridger (1 bronze), Franco Clayton (1 bronze), Kamalan Naidoo (3 silver, 2 bronze), Ethan Anderson (1 silver, 1 bronze) and Don Hunter (1 bronze).
Miandi Ootshuizen (100 breaststroke), Marjoné de Beer (200 backstroke), Franco Clayton (200 breaststroke) and Don Hunter (200 backstroke) improved the existing records in their items.
Coaches Douggie Eagar and Ilani Swanepoel are very proud of the athletes’ performance. “We are looking forward to the rest of the season with more achievements,” they agreed.
