Darts players from Limpopo were aiming for bull’s eye during the third Limpopo Darts trials at Coyote Club on Saturday hoping to accumulate as many points as possible to earn a spot in the provincial team that will represent the province at the South African Darts Championships scheduled for 9 to 13 July in Gauteng.
Some 20 players competed and Limpopo Darts Association secretary, Susan van Jaarsveldt is confident that the province will have a solid team at the nationals this year. She said two more provincial trials will be held before the announcement of the provincial team.
The province will be represented by one male and ladies provincial team, one Capricorn district men’s and ladies teams, one Vhembe district men’s and ladies teams, one Polokwane and Vhembe district team for both men and ladies and the u.18 team, she said.
Van Jaarsveldt added that the district team will consist of six male and four female players while the provincial team will be made up of six players of each gender and the junior team will accommodate two girls and two boys.
On 24 February, players from the Capricorn district will engage during the fourth Capricorn trials to be held at the club. Van Jaarsveldt called on residents who are interested in the sport to visit Coyote Club, situated at 34 Pietersburg Street, Ladanna during training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00 to familiarise themselves with the rules and regulations of the game.
She further pleaded with businesses and the Provincial Government to assist the association financially so that they can be able to participate at the nationals and put the province on the map.
