Four suspects who were arrested in connection with an alleged attack on security guards on a farm at Elim on Tuesday are expected to appear in the Louis Trichardt Magistrate’s Court later today (Thursday).
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe indicated that the four are facing charges of murder and attempted murder after a security guard was shot and killed.
This follows an incident on a farm between Elim and Vleifontein on Monday at about 19:30. It is alleged that four security guards posted at the avocado farm were confronted by four suspects, one armed with a firearm. The guards scattered into the bush when the gunman allegedly started shooting randomly at them. One of the guards was hit and the suspects fled the scene. When Police arrived the injured guard was immediately taken to hospital but he later succumbed to his injuries, according to Ngoepe.
Intensified investigation by detectives ensued immediately and subsequently four suspects aged between 24 and 36 years were arrested.
