The Provincial House of Traditional Leaders resolved to suspend the 2020 initiation schools season until further notice.
It was learnt that the decision is informed by the threat of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
A statement released by the Chairperson of the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders, Malesela Dikgale indicated that all traditional leaders, traditional surgeons and traditional health practitioners should adhere to the decision. All stakeholders should focus on the fight against Covid-19, he explained.
Dikgale further stressed that it was being done in the best interest of initiates and protection of human life. He concluded by saying the House of Traditional Leaders in Limpopo urged residents to heed the call and stay at home, avoid public places and cancel all social activities during the national 21-day lockdown period.
