Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after a shooting rampage at Cycad Estate during which a local businessman was allegedly targeted by a number of armed suspects last night (Wednesday).
According to Maphure Manamela of the Provincial Police Communications Centre the 42-year-old Indian male alleged that he left his business in Nirvana around 18:00 when he noticed a Nissan NP200 bakkie with four heavily armed unknown men in the load box.
The suspects opened fire on the victim’s vehicle and continued shooting until the victim had reached Cycad Estate where he drove through the boomed security gate in an effort to escape, according to Manamela.
She added that the suspects continued their attack in the estate until the victim’s vehicle came to a standstill. He managed to flee on foot causing the attackers to also leave the scene.
