Mbishi Mokoena, coach of Benny’s Sports Development Academy has applauded his team for their worthy performance at the National Finals of the Danone Nations Cup in Boksburg on Saturday.
The team missed out on a trip to Morocco, the main prize of the event and the finals after they were knocked out of the competition by Bree Primary School from Gauteng in the semi finals.
Mokoena said they were happy to have represented the province on national stage and he believes that the team will be stronger going forward. “We played well in the group stages, quarter finals and the semi finals. Our problem has been our inability to score goals. We created many chances in the semi finals but we could not convert. It was a learning experience for the boys and I think it will help us in going forward,” Mokoena said.
The team is currently preparing for the 2015 McDonald’s u.14 Schools League season which takes place in August in all the districts. “We will be starting with the preparations this coming weekend. One of the things that we will be focusing on is scoring goals. We have a strong defence and midfield but our fining is poor,” Mokoena said.
