Athletes gear up for Polokwane Cluster competition


Athletes from 42 primary schools in the Pietersburg Circuit participated in the P1, P2 and independent schools athletics meeting that was held at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Thursday.
The nearly 500 athletes competed for a spot in the Pietersburg Circuit team to be selected for the Polokwane Cluster Athletics meeting scheduled for 8 February at the same venue.
Pietersburg circuit secretary Andronica Somo indicated that the meeting was to select top athletes to represent the circuit at the cluster and commented that all the participating athletes had done their best. She added that they were looking forward to the cluster championships and were confident that the selected team would make them proud.

PEPPS Preparatory School athlete Klaas Modiba, winner of the 200 m, 80 m hurdles and 200 m hurdles for boys u.13. Behind him is Tlotliso Makgai of Pietersburg Comprehensive School, who finished third in 200 m and 100 m and second in 200 m hurdles.

Mamokgohloa Maifoof PEPPS Preparatory School reaches a distance of 15,65 m in the discus for girls u.12.

Laerskool Pietersburg Oos (Oosskool) athhlete Johannes Mostert wins the shot put for boys u.10 with a distance of 7,20 m.

Lize-Mari Claassens, one of Oosskool’s top performers at the meeting wins the 100 m hurdles for girls u.13. She also finished first in the 200 m hurdles and second in long jump.

Kgopotso Legodi of Laerskool Chris Hofmeyr manages a distance of 3,89 m to finish third in girls u.13 long jump, second in 200 m hurdles and third in 75 m hurdles.

Pietersburg Laerskool (Suidskool) u.12 javelinist Dwané Robson reaches a distance of 18,74 m.
