Bendor and Welgelegen residents are bound to wake up in Ike Maphoto from 1 August as the revolution brought by the provincial geographical names change committee is set to honour one of their elderly neighbours as a living struggle veteran.

The process will be concluded without public participation as the committee does not regard such a step necessary. "The place itself has no history necessitating public participation," explained Limpopo Geographical Names Change Committee Chairperson Boy Mamabolo.

Volgens die stad se polisiewoordvoerder, kapt Mohlaka Mashiane, het die egpaar kort na middernag van ‘n lawaai wakker geskrik en ondersoek ingestel waarna hulle op twee mans afgekom het wat besig was om by die agterdeur in te breek.

Residents angry over grave ‘damage’ at cemetery

A number of Polokwane residents are angry and have apparently been deeply hurt and saddened by what they perceive to be the impassive and insensitive treatment of grave sites in the Polokwane cemetery on the R37 to Lebowakgomo. Several complaints were received of tombstones being bulldozed and flower arrangements on fresh graves ‘manhandled’.
